What is Acupuncture?

Medical acupuncture can be defined as the stimulation of the peripheral nervous system with acupuncture needles, with or without electrical stimulation, to induce reflex neuromodulatory responses (sensory, motor, or autonomic) for the therapeutic purposes of treating pain and dysfunction of the locomotor system, reversible problems of dysregulation or to contribute as an adjunctive support treatment in chronic or irreversible conditions.

 

Cosmetic acupuncture can be used in conjuction with medical acupuncture, or as a standalone treatment to stimulate collagen production, help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, relax tension in facial muscles, and increase circulation to the facial tissues and skin. 

 

Mandy Bishop, RMT is a graduate of the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program, as well as a member of the Provincial Medical Acupuncture Association (PMAA) and the Canadian Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Association (CCAA), and looks forward to helping her clients with musculoskeletal pain, neurological pain, injury recovery and relaxation. ​

PLEASE NOTE: Insurance Coverage for Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is only available with Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Greenshield, SSQ Insurance, and MEDIC Construction (Greenshield Insurance), Co-Operators Insurance, NexGen RX, and Global Benefits. Not all insurance plans cover Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, some plans only cover Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is the responsibility of the client to determine insurance eligibility prior to scheduling an appointment.

If direct billing is not eligible for your insurance coverage, clients are required to pay for their treatment in the clinic, and submit their claim to their insurance company directly. Coinsurance is determined by your insurance policy plan provisions, and not determined by the provider.
